What is “Hot Yoga”
There’s a few things I would like to cover before I get into the benefits of hot yoga. What is hot yoga? Hot yoga is yoga that is performed in hot and humid usually Bikram, or Moksha yoga. It is becoming extremely popular throughout North America. Hot yoga is practiced in a room that is usually heated up to about 98 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes it so you are sweating before the first exercise is even done. Imagine a tropical environment with no breeze surrounded by other people and there you go.
The Different Styles of Hot Yoga
The first hot yoga was Bikram yoga. Bikram yoga follows 26 specific postures. Bikram yoga has been around the longest of the hot yogas as is considered to be the original hot yoga. Then came along Moksha yoga. Moksha yoga was invented in Toronto Canada by to Yogis that wanted to add an environmental twist to there yoga. Every Moksha yoga class is taught in an environmentally friendly class room.
Benefits to Hot Yoga
Hot Yoga is said to help with detoxification of the body. Heavy sweating is said to help detoxify the body and when you do hot yoga you are going to sweat that is for sure. It is also said that with the heat you are able to get deeper into each position because of the heat. It is said that with the extreme heat it is going to help more with breathing as well, and helps relax the muscles more.
